3DMark11 world record broken with 3-cards, 1 last hurrah to 3-way/4-way SLI

For quite a while now the 3DMark11 world record has been a 2-way setup and with the introduction of RTX and the death of 3/4-way SLI, its likely that will continue in the future

As one last hurray to 3-way and 4-way we had a play with it again last weekend and were able to beat our previous 3DMark 11 world record, previous done with 2-way cards, with the 3-way setup.

Goodbye 3/4-way, this may be the last time you take a world record unless AMD surprises us in the future.
  • Intel 7980XE
  • ASUS Rampage APEX X299
  • 3x Corsair 1500W PSU
  • 3x GALAX HOF 1080 TI
  • G.SKILL 4500MHz Trident-Z

HWBOT front page brutalised with 9x 1080 TI records in 3-way and 4-way

bob(nz) and Youngpro had a very busy Saturday, focused on grabbing top spots for all 3-way 3d benchmarks.

Think you can say we were successful, as we picked up top spots for:
  • Catzilla 720
  • 3DMark 11
  • 3DMark Vantage
  • Firestrike
  • Firestrike Extreme
  • Firestrike Ultra
  • Timespy

Just to top it of, we nabbed 4-way Vantage and Catzilla in the process.
Not a bad days work in the office 😉

Intel 7980XE @ 5.9GHz+
ASUS Rampage Apex X299
3x Corsair 1500W
4x Galax GTX 1080 TI HOF OC Lab Edition
G.Skill Trident Z 4500MHz

WPrime 1 second barrier broken for the first time

In a historic moment for OC, we are the first to achieve a sub 1 second result in the WPrime 32m benchmark with a result of 0.999. Normally we don't focus too heavily on the 2D benchmarks but the chance to go sub 1 second was too good of an opportunity to deny.

Setup:
Intel 7980XE at 5.9 GHz
4x G.Skill 2500 MHz Trident-Z
Asus Rampage Apex X299
1x Corsair 1500w
KINGPINCOOLING T-REX on the CPU

This was achieved with the massive Intel 7980XE @ 5.9 GHz and the new T-REX pot on the CPU running around -100.

Team AU take 2-way Firestrike, Firestrike Extreme and Firestrike Ultra

Despite a poor mount (see images) we managed to nail out 2520MHz in 2-way SLi on the Galax 1080 TI cards to take the rest of the 3DMark 2-way SLi records we didn't have

Setup
7980XE at 5.8GHz+
2x Galax 1080 TI Hall of Fame
4x G.Skill 2500 MHz Trident-Z
Asus Rampage Apex X299
3x Corsair 1500w

This was alot of fun and worked really well for us. Unfortunately we didn't have good mounts on the GPUs so couldn't try 2600+, but it was enough to take all the records regardless.

I've also got one for you here Greg, after winning the $500USD prize you put up, I felt like I owed you a proper 2-way Firestrike, here it is mate, 50k breached!

Thermspyset released for public use

I've been doing alot of 4-way SLI lately and one thing that was slowing me down (and driving me nuts) was setting each of the 4 cards to adaptive clocking off in thermspy after each boot.

Thermspy is a tool that gives access to some NVIDIA GPU options such as disabling the adaptive clocking, this prevents the clock speed from going up and down dynamically. This option is important for performance and stability reasons when overclocking competitively.

I wrote a small program to set each card to adaptive clocking off, then close thermspy once its done.

I've made this application public (including source) for anyone that might need this for benching. You can get it here on my github.

I'll leave you with an image of our 4-way setup that this tool was written for.
